So that no one is left without

Finland is wealthy

Finland is wealthier than ever. Meanwhile, poverty in the country has doubled in the last ten years. Families with children have been struck hardest. Young children form the relatively largest group of the poor. The welfare of single parent families and families with children must be improved immediately. National pensions and the labor market subsidy must be increased. There must be an equitable distribution of wealth.

Everyone deserves good care

Outsourcing of public healthcare and social services to market place has to be stopped by legislation. Resources of healthcare services must be improved in order for everyone to be treated within the legal timeframe. No one in need of healthcare should be put on a waiting list. The size of children's day-care groups must be sanctioned by law. The elderly must have a say in the quality of their care. No one in need of healthcare should be left unattended.

Everyone has a right to learn

The state subsidy for education has to be increased so that every child can attend a neighborhood school within a safe distance from home. Universities must be guaranteed with sufficient funds for teaching and research, and study grants paid by Kela must be increased. University education must remain free of tuition fees in the future. Everyone must have access to education, arts and culture. Therefore public funding for libraries and cultural institutes has to be increased. Researchers and artists working on grants must be made eligible for social security benefits. The act concerning theaters should be extended to new assembles, and the subsidies for culture journals must be increased.

From social security to basic security

A large number of people are engaged in the work market through other than traditional long-term and full-time employment. The social security benefits related to temporary employment, project engagements, and entrepreneurship must be brought to the same level as those of full-time employees. Social security has to be updated to meet up with the reality of today's work place: accepting a short-term job should not cut off housing allowance. A monthly income less than six thousand euro must be made free from tax, and in the long run social security must be transformed into basic income. Life must be controllable even during a short-term employment. No one should be left without a sufficient basic security.
